Megan E. Filbin-Wong, Ph.D.
I just wrapped up my fourth year at MSU Denver, and my main focus this year has been developing preliminary data for grant applications, as well as altering my courses to provide the best education for my students!
My research project is focused on how ribosome function is directly manipulated to allow spatially segregated translation within regions of the neuron. Toward this end, I am pursuing structural studies of the ribosome bound to the C-terminal tail of neuronal transmembrane receptor DCC (“Deleted in Colorectal Cancer”), which appears to directly interact with ribosomes at axonal growth cones.
